Congratulations on your new piercing! I cleaned the location, used a single-use sterile needle, tools and jewelry. The rest of the aftercare is up to you!
GENERAL AFTERCARE
Your piercing needs to be cleaned 2-3 times a day with a sterile saline solution. Any o.9% isotonic saline solution is fine to use.
* Wash your hands thoroughly before cleaning or touching your piercing.
* Spray Saline solution directly on your piercing or on a Q-Tip and gently swab around both sides of your piercing:
* Rinse with warm water and dry your piercing!
DO NOT USE: Rubbing Alcohol, Hydrogen Peroxide, Bactine, contact lens solution, nasal spray or Neosporiti.
ORAL AFTERCARE
The exterior of your piercing should be cleaned following general aftercare. The interior should be cleaned with an alcohol-free mouthwash 5-10 times a day.
Use undiluted mouthwash morning and night. Dilute with an equal part water during the day.
Swish for 6o seconds or follow the instructions on the bottle.
Maintaining a good dental hygiene routine is CRuCiAl for healing.
AVOID smoking and vaping, spicy food or drink, alcohol and smooching while your piercing is still healing!
WHAT TO EXPECT
Immediately following your piercing you may experience some numbness, tingling, light bleeding, swelling, bruising or irritation. All of that can be normal! You can ice your piercing with a cold pack and clean barrier for 15 minute intervals to alleviate these symptoms.
You may experience some secretion of lymphatic fluid. This discharge may be clear, white, slightly yellow, or pink. It will dry to form a crust around your piercing. If it is attached to the skin, do not remove it as it can lead to scarring! Gently remove with warm water otherwise,
TIPS FOR HAPPY HEALING
Do NOT touch or rotate jewelry, especially with un-washed hands!
Avoid submerging your piercing in water for 8-12 weeks!
Be mindful of clothing, bedding, loofahs: or activities (Sports, changing your clothes, brushing hair, etc) that can stag, yank or rub on your piercing!
Avoid applying any makeup, skincare products, lotions, perfumes or hair
products directly on your piercing. If it happens, rinse it off!
* Do NOT cover with any tapes of any bandages as you can trap moisture arid bacteria against your piercing!
HEALING & DOWNSIZING
It is extremely important to leave your jewelry in for the entire healing process.
Changing jewelry too soon can damage the channel through your skin and result in irritation bumps or scarring! Rings can add pressure to a healing piercing that could lead to bumps, scarring or cheese-wire tears!
