Aftercare: Immediately Following Your Procedure
Once your eyebrow permanent makeup session is complete, proper aftercare is essential for healthy healing and long-lasting results. Your technician will typically apply a thin layer of ointment or a specialized aftercare product to protect the treated area. They may also give you additional instructions based on their preferred method. It’s very important to follow these directions carefully and avoid anything that could interfere with the healing process.
Eyebrow Permanent Makeup Aftercare Guidelines
Day 1 (First 24 hours):
Do not wash the treated area.
Apply ointment only if recommended by your PMU artist.
Avoid rubbing, scratching, or picking.
Do not apply makeup on or around the brows.
Do not use brow growth serums containing prostaglandin analogues.
Avoid skincare with active ingredients (retinol, acids, etc.) for 2 weeks.
Avoid heavy sweating or exercise.
Sleep on your back.
Do not allow direct shower spray on the brows.
Avoid waxing, threading, or tweezing the brow area.
Do not get facials, chemical peels, or Botox.
Avoid direct sunlight.
Do not swim in fresh, salt, or chlorinated water.
Days 2–14:
Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your skin.
Gently cleanse the brows with a mild, non-exfoliating cleanser.
Continue using ointment only if instructed by your PMU artist.
Avoid rubbing, picking, or scratching.
Do not wear makeup on the healing area.
Do not use brow growth serums with prostaglandin analogues.
Continue avoiding active skincare ingredients for 2 weeks.
Keep brows away from saunas, steam rooms, and swimming pools.
Protect your brows from direct sunlight—wear a hat or sunglasses outdoors.
Do not expose the area to direct shower spray.
Avoid hair removal in the brow area.
Avoid facials, chemical peels, or Botox.
No swimming in any type of water.
Sleep on your back for the first week.
Day 14 and Beyond:
Apply sunscreen to protect your brows from sun damage.
Moisturize with a gentle, fragrance-free, non-comedogenic product.
Once fully healed, consider adding a nourishing brow serum to your routine.
Contact your artist if you have questions or concerns.
Healing & Color Changes
Don’t panic if your brows look patchy, uneven, or lighter during healing. As the skin naturally flakes, color may appear spotty or faded. This is temporary—true color will return once the skin has fully healed, which usually takes about 3 weeks.
If a touch-up is needed, it can be scheduled at least 4 weeks after your initial procedure.
The Role of Brow Serum
Once healing is complete, a brow serum can help maintain the look and longevity of your permanent makeup. These serums are designed to condition and strengthen brow hairs, often containing peptides, vitamins, and botanical extracts that encourage healthier, fuller-looking brows.
⚠️ Avoid serums with prostaglandin analogues, as they may cause pigment discoloration or affect healing.
Apply your serum once or twice daily as directed by the product instructions to keep your brows looking vibrant, strong, and polished.
